Dimensional Identification

Please note that as a supplier of neodymium magnets, we use different identification for ring magnets compared to disc shapes.

For ring/circular neodymium magnets, we use D for the outer diameter, d for the inner diameter, and H for the thickness (height). For example, if a ring magnet has D10 x d7 x 3 mm dimensions, its outer diameter is 10 mm, inner diameter is 7 mm, and thickness is 3 mm.

Ring neodymium magnets come in two types: those with straight holes drilled vertically into the magnet and those with countersunk holes, which include a primary hole and a major hole.

For ring or circular neodymium magnets with a countersunk hole, the letter D represents the outer diameter, and the letter M represents the diameter of the major hole. A ring magnet with dimensions of D10 x M7 x 2 mm has an outer diameter of 10 mm, a major hole diameter of 5 mm, and a thickness of 2 mm. It is recommended also to include the countersunk angle.

Outer diameters: 1.5 – 300 mm (1/16 – 11 13/16 inches) 

Inner diameters: 0.4 – 250 mm (1/64 – 9 27/32 inches) 

Height: 0.3 – 120 mm (1/64 – 4 ¾ inches) 

Magnetic direction: 100mm (3 15/16 inches)

The Largest Ring

We can produce the largest neodymium ring magnets with the following dimensions:

Outer diameter of 250mm, inner diameter of 220mm, and a height of 60mm (4 ¾ – 3 1/8 x 2 3/8 inches).

We can also produce magnets with an outer diameter of 80mm, an inner diameter of 50mm, and a height of 120mm (3 1/8 – 1 15/16 x 4 ¾ inches).

The Smallest Ring

We can produce micro neodymium magnets with small dimensions.

Dimensions: outer diameter of 1.5mm, inner diameter of 0.4mm, and height of 0.3mm (equivalent to 1/16 – 1/64 x 1/64 inches).

Please note that for ring shapes with large outer diameters, the thickness should not be too small,

And for larger ring shapes, the wall should not be too thin as they are prone to breaking.

Grades of Neodymium Ring Magnets

Neodymium magnets come in different grades, ranging from N35 to N55, and also have high-temperature designs for special applications, such as H, M, SH, EH, and AH.

Magnetization Directions

Ring magnets can be magnetized axially or radially, similar to circular magnets.

Axially magnetized ring magnets have north and south poles on two planes, while radially magnetized ring magnets have north and south poles on the circular side.

Operational Tips:

1) Neodymium magnets are weak, unstable, and highly magnetic. So, remember to use them with caution, especially for giant versions with slender heights.
2). If the ring neodymium magnets become stuck together and cannot be separated, divide them laterally rather than perpendicularly. If you’re unsure what it implies, check out our piece on dividing magnets.
3) Keep neodymium magnets away from items readily affected by magnetism, such as displays, credit cards, laptops, televisions, mobile phones, etc.
